Building Safety Month

Our Fire and Building Safety Department will be hosting an Annual Lego Building Competition in honor of Building Safety Month which is the month of May.

Competition Information

This competition is open to all Student, Staff, and Faculty members of UC Merced. All participants must register and submit their entry to our FABS Trailer by April 30th, 2024, by 4pm. (Our office is open Monday-Friday from 8am - 5pm).

 

All submissions MUST be a type of building Please see the following examples: (House, Office/Business, School, Factory, Mall, Church, Hotel, etc). Voting will be open to all Student, Staff, and Faculty members of UC Merced starting May 1st. We will be voting for Best Overall, Best Residential, Best Commercial and Best LEGO kit. The winner will be announced May 3rd by the end of day. The winner(s) will receive a prize! 

Competition Rules

  • Registration is required to participate. Along with a physical submission by April 30th. Please register using the following link. 
  • Minimum Building size is 4x4. Click here to see examples.
  • One entry per person or group. Group size is limited to 5. 
  • Submissions must be submitted to the FABS Trailer by April 30th by 4pm. 
  • Voting is limited to one per person. 
  • All submissions MUST be a type of building. 

Voting

  • We will be voting for 4 different categories: Best Overall, Best Commercial Building, Best Residential and Best LEGO Kit.
  • Best Overall will receive a 100 dollar VISA gift card
  • Best Commercial and Residential will both receive a 75 dollar VISA gift card
  • Best LEGO Kit will receive a 50 dollar VISA gift card

Additional Information

  • FABS will be hosting tabling May 1st and 2nd at Academic Walk to display entries and collect votes. *Based on how many submissions we receive not all entries may be displayed*
  • Voting will be held May 1st and May 2nd. Click here to vote.
  • Voting will end May 2nd at 5pm.  
  • The winner(s) will be announced on May 3rd at the end of the day. 
  • By submitting your entry, you are giving us permission to display your group’s name, your entry’s title, the entry itself, and any information you indicated that you wanted to feature about your building (the blurb you submitted in the registration form if any). This does not guarantee that we will display all projects; if we do, we will display all projects or none of them.
